Gamma ray spectroscopy opens up new investigation possibilities of structure of nucleus or nuclear reaction mechanism among them :

study of super deformed nuclei properties,

study of high spin states of normally deformed nuclei with an ellipsoidal
....... shape,

existence of stable super deformed nuclei.

In order to carry out these studies, very efficient and extremely sensitive instruments are required. They are large array of escape-suppressed spectrometers.
These arrays have evolved over years from those having a few detectors to the highly efficient Euroball spectrometer which has over 200 high purity Ge detectors.
